Bibby Ste-Croix in nomination at the Ergo Cup Competition
Atlanta, March 27, 2018 – After being awarded the first prize among the McWane group of companies, Bibby Ste-Croix, a foundry established and operating in Ste-Croix (Lotbinière), Quebec, Canada, is in nomination at the prestigious Ergo Cup competition being held in Atlanta between March 26 and 29 during the 21st Annual Applied Ergonomics Conference.
The company has developed a very innovative tool, the PushMaster, to remove the refractory material from a metallurgical ladle without using a jack drill or any pneumatic hand tool. Instead of fracturing the cooled cast iron and the refractory with pneumatic tools, this new device, the PushMaster is used to push out the material that must be removed from the ladle.
This unique and innovative tool has been designed and developed by four inventors and a team from Bibby Ste-Croix. Following several months of research and development, the PushMaster was launched and integrated into the plant’s equipment. Since then, all extractions from metallurgical ladles are performed with this new technology that considerably reduces the risk of injuries and contaminants in the air, increases the lifespan of ladles and significantly reduces the time required to complete the task.
“The PushMaster redefines our industry practices for extracting refractory linings safely, cleanly and economically. We are very proud of our dedicated team’s efforts to achieve this innovative and outstanding result,” said Francis Dorval, director of Health and Safety at Bibby Ste-Croix.
As for the Annual Applied Ergonomics Conference and Expo, where the innovation developed by Bibby Ste-Croix will be showcased, it is an event where attendees gather from around the world to share best practices with other professionals in ergonomics, healthcare, safety, human resources management and risk management.
